ACLU Bake Sale Fundraiser

Full House and International House will be making baked goods and selling them Monday night in Exley. All proceeds will go directly to the American Civil Liberties Union.

European Society Meet and Greet

European Society is a newly founded group trying to create a European
student community at Wes. If you are an international or exchange
student from Europe, grew up in Europe, love Europe, studied/will

Immigration and Domestic Violence: Examining the Legal Implications of Intersectionality

Come to a discussion with Martin Wheeler, of Connecticut Legal Services, to learn about his experience as a family attorney for survivors of domestic violence who are either undocumented or rely on their partner for lawful immigration status. Mr. Wheeler is also a licensed family therapist and will discuss his experiences working with victims of trauma.

Want new housing? Live in a program house!

Tired of your current living situation? You can live in a program house next semester! Several houses have open spots for the Spring 2010 semester:

Farm House:
Interested in food politics? Then live in this amazing house with a great kitchen, huge tv, parking lot, and its own washer/dryer. There are 5 spots available in doubles. Email Alex Ketchum ’12 at aketchum(at)wesleyan(dot)edu if interested.

Music House:
Music House is searching for residents!! We’re looking for music enthusiasts (not necessarily musicians) who highly value house community. In our inaugural semester we’ve been hosting shows, parties, and good times all ’round. We’ve been starting up a lot of projects such as working towards providing an ensemble practice space in our house (complete with PA system and drumset), and starting a student run recording studio. International House:
International House provides a home for students of all ethnic backgrounds and nationalities. International House is a haven for ideas and perspectives from around the world. We welcome all members of the Wesleyan community to this haven for diversity. We have our own kitchen and laundry room with washing and drying machines. There are 2 single rooms available. Full House is one of the new program houses dedicated to the appreciation of cooking and eating delicious, delicious food. We like to share with one another, and it’s almost guaranteed that several times a week you’ll return home to freshly baked bread, cookies, pie etc, waiting for your seal of approval. In addition to having lots of yummy food, we are a creative bunch that like to experiment with different cooking techniques and recipes. Even if you’re not a master chef (yet), we still want you! Kitchen-phobes encouraged to apply. 4 spots available: 2 singles, 1 two-room double, 1 one-room double. Well-Being House:
Well being house is an energetic and welcoming community which seeks to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is a substance-free community in order to provide a safe space for people who may not enjoy the traditional college scene but members are not required to be substance free when not in the house. Come and visit us if you’re interested, Emily can tell you all about our delicious house dinners and other fun events. We have six doubles available. It is the mission of Russian House to foster a community that encourages students and faculty to share their knowledge and experience with Russian language and culture. Russian House also sponsors cultural events and educational opportunities that strive to meet the needs of Russian students and the greater Wesleyan community. Interfaith House:
A wonderful house with diversity and a warm community. Our residents love meaningful interfaith conversations but most important of all – food! A lot of cooking and fun around 24/7. Also known for having the best beanbags on campus.There are 2 double spots open. Contact Carmen Yip ’12 at nyip(at)wesleyan(dot)edu for information. We’re also having our next house program on Monday 16 Nov. It will be held at our house (230 wash) so definitely come to check out the house!

Asian/Asian-American (AAA) House:
Want to learn more about Asian and Asian-American culture and languages? If you do, apply to AAA House! We have our own laundry machines (which charge $0.25 less than regular washing machines on campus) and dishwasher. There are 7 single rooms and 4 bathrooms in total. The AAA House library has more than 700 volumes of fiction and non-fiction books on Asian languages, culture, art, history and a special collection on Asian-American topics. Live in the Bayit next semester!  The Bayit encourages both Jewish and non-Jewish applicants who are interested in sharing their religious and cultural perspectives with each other and the greater Wesleyan community.  We have an awesome kitchen and common room and usually have delicious leftovers from Shabbat dinner.  We have a few singles and a double available.  Contact Jen Liebschutz ’11 at jliebschutz(at)wesleyan(dot)edu for more info and an application.
