Queer Art part two!

The queer art/lit magazine that was published in the fall is doing an ice creamier, foss hillier, sunnier edition this semester. Which just means it’ll be published this spring. Check it out!

Queer Art is up and running and hungry for your submissions. We’ll publish at least one piece from every person who submits (within reason), promise. Things we accept include:
-Poetry
-Prose
-Short Fiction (under 5 pages)
-Comics
-Photos
-Ideas for a real name for this publication
-Sheet music
-Collages
-Coloring book pages
-Doodles
-Drawings generally
-Anything that can be reproduced in 2-D, black and white

so submit your work, whether you identify with the endless acronym or if your art’s just real fucking queer, we don’t care. The best thing to do is give us some things to choose from (3-5 items a person) but that’s not a requirement.

Queer Art

Picture 8From Camara Awkward-Rich ’11:

Hey Queers (and gay boys and lesbians and transfolk and drag queens and bisexuals and everyone really)!

When’s the last time we had a real conversation? Not about each other, but with each other? When’s the last time we had a conversation about sex, about love, about making oatmeal, about our mothers, our bodies, our lives? I’m thinking never. Or at least not since I’ve been here.

Open House is working to build and rebuild some of those points of contact outside of activist and party scenes. So we’re trying to put out a lit/art mag or zine (or whatever it turns into) that represents us as individuals and as a community. So send us your poems, short stories, comic strips, creative non-fiction, drawings, photos etc. These can be in some way about being queer but definitely definitely don’t have to be.

Send submissions to openhouselit(at)gmail(dot)com by November 25th. (please specify if you want your piece to be anonymous)
