WILD Wes Workdays!

From our friends at WILD Wes:

Join us for some post-brunch gardening as we spruce up the WestCo Courtyard. We’ll plant some pretty flowers & tasty treats and begin the process of sheet mulching, a staple of permaculture. Newcomers are always welcome; add us on OrgSync or email wildwesu@gmail to stay in touch.

We’ll also be collecting cardboard over the coming weeks, so if you’ve got any of that good biodegradable stuff to spare, feel free to drop it off during a workday!

Dates: Sunday, May 3 and Sunday, May 10
Time: 1:00 – 4:00 PM
Place: WestCo Courtyard

Saturday Workday at Long Lane Farm

One time I ran into Ally Bernstein ’13 unexpectedly standing behind a farm stand at a yoga festival in Vermont. The girl likes to farm, and on Saturday morning, she wants you to join in the labor:

Long Lane Farm is one of Wesleyan’s most beautiful secrets, an organic student-run farm filled with growth and potential. There will be lots of opportunities to work on the farm this year, but Saturday mornings are the perfect time to enjoy the lovely autumn weather and play in the dirt.

We welcome everyone with any level of agricultural experience, and now is an especially exciting time to come out and lend a hand! The summer student farmers worked tirelessly and the farm is filled with ripening tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cabbage, kale, chard and more. We’re preparing for the first winter growing season in our brand new hoop house and providing produce for charities, the Middletown Farmer’s Market, and Bon Appetit (yes, there are Wesleyan-grown veggies in Usdan!). Students will be working from 10 AM to 2 PM, and we’ll be meeting at noon to discuss goals and ideas. Feel free to swing by any time.
