Mask-Making Mardi Gras Madness

mardi gras maskZoë Thrasher ’16 writes in with an opportunity for artsy gluttony:

Mardi Gras is a cool occasion to meet some swell and happening people and collectively make masks (zomg – GLITTER) and enjoy the finer things in life, like food. Stop by Alpha Delt this Tuesday at 7-9 and make a neat mask (to show off your ultra artsy side), eat some donuts and chips and soda (because gluttony is a fun combo with mask-making), and revel in the fun atmosphere of a house full of other artsyn gluttons. Happy Mardi Gras! And we hope to see you there! ^_^

Date: Tuesday, February 9
Time: 7-9PM
Place: Alpha Delt

Fasching: A German Karneval Dance Party

Missed celebrating on Fat Tuesday? German Haus, Open House, and the Hewitt and Butterfields RAs are giving you a second chance! Go crazy like it’s the last weekend of die närrische Saison (the foolish season)!

Carnival or Mardi Gras goes by many names in German, depending on the region and dialect: Karneval (Rhineland, former Roman settlements), Fasching (Austria, Bavaria, Berlin), Fastnacht (Baden, Switzerland), Fosnat (Franconia) or Fasnet (Swabia). Whether it’s Fasching or Karneval, it is a time to let off steam and live it up before the Lenten period that once called for fasting (die Fastenzeit).

We’ll be giving away BEADS and MASKS! Costumes encouraged!

No exposed boobies please, this is a nice Reslife event. Crazy dancing and fun-having is welcomed however.

Facebook event here.

Date: Saturday, Feb. 20th
Time: 11pm – 2am
Place: German Haus, 135 High St.
