“How to be a Star Student” Workshops this Tuesday!

Want to learn how to be the best student you can be?

Join a fellow Peer Advisor this Tuesday in Usdan at 12PM or in the Fauver Lounge at 7PM for a short workshop and do just that!

Successful students ask for help, so come and join us this Tuesday! Bring your Wesleyan planner, paper and a pen.

Attention Juniors!

Junior year is almost halfway over… can you believe it? To make your life easier, we’re bringing together all the resources you need to succeed. Thursday night at 7pm, stop by the Hi-Rise Lounge for dessert from a local bakery and to talk to:

– The Peer Advisors, who will be answering questions about time management and studying for finals
– The CRC, who will be giving an overview of when to start thinking about GREs, LSATs, MCATs, grad schools, and internships
– The Writing Workshop Ford fellows, who will explain how to start planning for a senior thesis or essay
Dean Garrett, who will talk about GenEds, graduation credits, oversubscription and planning for senior year.

Public Speaking Workshop: TONIGHT

Exam Preparation Workshop TONIGHT

Midterms are over, and no matter how you did, everyone can learn how to study more efficiently.  Come to a workshop on exam preparation in Woodhead Lounge tonight (11/08/09) at 7pm.  The Peer Advisors will work on breaking down the rest of the semester to prepare for any exams for the rest of the semester and finals, as well as practice test-taking for different exam formats.

Massages/Stress Management Workshop at Woodhead

Stressed out? Feeling overwhelmed? Come to a Time & Stress Management workshop! This workshop, co-run by the Peer Health Advocates and Peer Advisors, will give you helpful time and stress management techniques, tailored to the busy college lifestyle. You’ll come away from the workshop feeling relaxed and ready to take on all you have to do… as well as having received a massage!

Please bring a towel or yoga mat so you don’t have to lie on the ground during your massage.

We can help you navigate the new electronic major declaration system, make your studying more organized and efficient, and help second semester freshmen decide whether applying to the College of Letters or College of Social Studies is a good fit for them. Procrastination! Confusion! Indecision! Can you help students to navigate academic life at Wesleyan?

The Deans’ Office is looking for talented and motivated students to become SARN Peer Advisors for the 2009-2010 academic year. SARN Peer Advisors are rising juniors and seniors who work throughout the academic year to support Wesleyan’s faculty advising program and enhance student access to academic resources through the Student Academic Resource Network (SARN). Peer Advisors will receive training, give peer advice and hold sessions for groups of students regarding time management, study and exam preparation strategies. This may or may not be a paid position.
