WSA Presidential Debate LIVE-BLOG Tonight @ 6:30pm EST

What’s up Wesleying. Trilla Flocka Whateverstein ’13 here. I haven’t live-blogged anything since the 2011 Oscars, but tonight I’ll be walking you through the entire WSA Presidential Debate, which you can attend in person as well on the first floor of Usdan at 6:30. I might even be joined by melodious. And maybe a surprise guest, like dark horse write-in candiate A-Batte. We’ll find out soon.

Check  back at 6:30 for the good shit. It’s on.

Arya Alizadeh ’13 vs. current president Zach Malter ’13 vs. the dark horse himself, A-Batte ’13 (who won’t be debating sadly so read this). Another way to look at it: the oddly beardless right now vs. the never been beardless? vs. the dark horse “candidate” Anwar.

Let’s go. Click past the jump for the live-blog.

Wesleying Exclusive: Group Interview with WSA Pres and VP Candidates

It was last week, I believe, when one (VP) Sam Ebb ’13 lumbered over to me and requested to be interviewed by Wesleying. A boyish-looking ragamuffin with the beady, ever-searching eyes of a raccoon, Ebb revealed himself to be one of the WSA VP candidates in the upcoming elections cycle. He was running with one (P) Arya Alizadeh ’13 on the Presidential ticket—the rather large, animalistic-looking man often seen with a hat and an American flag. Their respective candidacies were news to me—unsurprisingly, actually, as I really didn’t care all that much. Further exacerbating my lack of care was the fact that Ebb approached me in the backyards of Fountain on a Thursday night. It was misty, cold, and miserable, and having just submitted my senior thesis earlier that afternoon, I was drunk, headachy, and struggling to maintain verticality. Needless to say, I was grumpy.

But for some reason I agreed, and because of Wesleying’s policy not to take sides in WSA elections (except where Giant Joint is concerned), I agreed to drag the other two candidates into the interview.

And so when I woke up this wet, rainy Saturday morning—this time hungover and dehydrated, and still grumpy like a mofo—I wondered of my purpose for going through with this. I am, after all, graduating in a few brief weeks. What do these people have that would in any way interest me?  (Also, didn’t the Argus already do some stupid interview with all the candidates?)

I pondered this as I sat in Usdan 136, waiting to start the interview, listening to Arya and Sam banter  about constitutional reviews and other important-sounding shit and watching the other candidates—(P) Zach Malter ’13, the straight-laced Presidential incumbent, and (VP) Mari Jarris ’14, his gummi-bear lookalike running mate—tinker with their iPhones.

And then I remembered what dear leader Zach instructed me to do going into it: “The challenge will be striking a balance between serious conversation about campus issues (don’t hold back) and total irreverence.” Alright, boss. I’ll try my best.

Click on to read the group interview, guest starring A-Batte, where we talk about chalking, tuition fees, campaigning, and horndoggery (oh wait, we cut that out?). It’s a little long, so watch out.

WSA Presidential Debate

Come to the WSA Presidential Debate, Monday at 6:30PM on the first floor of Usdan.

Care about something, anything, related to student life at Wesleyan?  Whether it’s chalking, disability rights, dining, the pet policy, or the DVD racks in SciLi, the WSA President can likely play an influential role in getting things you want done.  Aren’t dedicated to a specific issue, but still live/work/study at Wesleyan?  Then this is probably important to you too.

Come check out WSA presidential candidates Arya Alizadeh ’13 and Zachary Malter ’13 to find out who’s got what you want.  The debate starts at 6:30PM and takes place on the first floor of Usdan.  Feel free to bring your dinner down, listen to the spiels, and ask some hard-hitting questions.

Questions about the debate can be directed to the Moderator, Syed Ali ’13 (me), by emailing sali[at]wesleyan[dot]edu.  More general elections questions can be directed to wsa[at]wesleyan[dot]edu.

Date: Tomorrow, Monday, 23rd
Time: 6:30PM
Place: 1st floor, Usdan

WSA Presidential Debate: Liveblogging like a Mofo

Hello there, Wes-folks. This is your main man frostedmoose, bloggin’ the WSA Presidential Debates live from Usdan University Centre. Now, I don’t particularly care about any of this shit (I’m going to write-in my vote for Kanye West, in the hopes that if he indeed does win he will come all the way here to Middletown, CT to person the office himself like a mon-stah), nor do I care for any of you meat-bags we here at Wesleying call readers. But I don’t have much work for the week, and my workaholism necessitates me to busy myself with something. So here it is.

UPDATE: This is your other main man, A-Batte. Because there aren’t enough good things on this campus I’ve had a chance to ruin, I’ll also be liveblogging in this post. Collaborative editing is going to be…difficult. Huzzah!

This post will update itself periodically after the jump. Yuhhhhhhhhhhh.

It looks like Micah Feiring ’11 never took office.  Although Ben Firke ’12 has kicked off Becky Weiss ’10, Mike Pernick ’10 will not be done away with.  After two non-consecutive years as President already, Pernick is here to stay.  Welcome back Mike.

If they’re both offline anyway, who am I going to ask about the Usdan menu for the day?  Also, it kind of messes up my bottle cap opener.
