Quasimodal Auditions!!!!

It’s a cappella szn! Check out this audition notice from Quasimodal:

Quasimodal is looking for new members — lovers of voice and of music and of collaboration, come audition with us!!!!!! We will be holding auditions on Monday Sept 3th and Tuesday Sept. 4th from 6:30-8:30 in Boger Hall room 114 — across from Usdan

Quasimodal is a group of creative, kind and most importantly, sexy Wes students who love singing together and performing all-original arrangements. We are Wesleyan’s oldest coed acapella group; we sing music from across the genres, though always with a bit of soul.

For the audition, please prepare a part of a song that you love and feel showcases your voice. At most, come with a verse and a chorus or verse and a bridge.

Ben Keeshin ’14 writes in with this pun-y concert submission:

No one wears briefs….

We have three AWESOME newbies as well as our regular, old-timey cast of ROCKSTARS!

We have new songs, as well as a new, Bufordian take on an old favorite (@TheEmmaBufordFanCluband/orMafia)!

Bring your friends and your moms and your lovers and a Nalgene full of something and hear what Quasi’s been working on all semester. We’d love to have ya.

Date: Thursday, November 14th
9pm (till 9:30. That’s a study break!)
Where: Olin Library Lobby

E. Oks ’13 Releases First Studio Album “Back Up, Black Out”

After bringing legendary rap duo Dead Prez to campus last winter, recent Wes grad Evan Okun ’13 drops his first studio album. It is a concept album (listen in order and NOT on shuffle), featuring at least one other Wesleyan student on every track.  The album includes performances by Wesleyan a-cappella stars Quasimodal and production by the FXWRTH (aka Coral Foxworth ’15) and SANK0FA (aka Lucas Turner-Owens ’11).

If you’re looking for hip hop that is altogether poetic, introspective, hilarious, and consistently virtuosic, then this is the album for you. What’s more, you can download it for free here.

TASTE-O-QUAZI: Just a Little Olin Concert

Trina Park ’15 wants to let you know that Quasimodal (Shout out to Emma Buford ’16!) is going to throw down in Olin tonight.

While not time for our big end-of-semester show, we felt it was time for a little showing.

Come to Olin @ 9:30 for the briefest of sets (<20 min) and let us serenade you! We have some unbelievably fantastic newbies that we’d love to show off, and a couple great new songs.

Come a little tipsy, get a little tipsy. Stop by on your way to a pre-game, or use the concert as an excuse to get away from that awkward pre-game with your Spanish class. Meet a friend, find a lover.

So come on down at 9:30 and help us close down Olin before you head off and begin your Friday night.

Date: Friday, November 30th
Time: 9:30pm
Place: Olin
Cost: FREE (no need for bills, bills, bills)

Quasimodal Final Concert

Julia Michaels ’12 is better at Photoshop than I am:

We’re baaaaaaaaaaaack! We’ve been keepin’ ourselves on the DL because what we have planned for you is just. too. good. Mmmmmm.

After a super hectic semester with NO SNOW WTF and lots and lots of FUN, Quasimodal (Wes’s oldest co-ed a cappella group) is BACK and BETTER THAN EVER. And what better way to celebrate a spring revival than a SPRING CONCERT in da historic Memorial Chapel!?!?!?!??!??!?!

Take a quick 1-hour study break on Monday night (obvi you won’t bring your laptops, so just think of it as a much more productive, cultured version of SelfControl) and come join us for an evening of merriment and mirth. We will be singing, dancing, rapping, clapping, stomping, introducing one of our newbies (!) and saying goodbye to two absolutely incredible seniors.

Date: Monday, May 14
Time: 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Place: Memorial Chapel

Quasimodal Winter Concert!!!

The a capella group Quasimodal represents bijective critical theory in the 21st century – at once holistic yet intensely focused, a whirlpool of the modern zeitgeist recontextualized within radical social thought. For Benjamin, the habitus that reveals itself through performance and embodiment – as well as the intrinsic quantum chemistry embedded in oxygenated atmospherics – informed the Quasimodal practice as an inevitable product of the atmosphere that created the Greek state.

Get in the holiday spirit with Quasimodal!!!

Date:   Dec. 10
Time:   5:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Place:  Memorial Chapel
