Want to Play Rugby? Try Old Meth!

wes_rugby

The indefatigable Nick Guthrie ’15 writes:

Have you ever wished that all sports involved tackling?

Do you think that football would be more fun if everyone on the team got to both carry the ball and play defense?

Do you like running, dodging, hitting, scrumming, singing, rucking, and (maybe) fighting?

If any of the above (or none of them!) applies to you, you should come out to play for Wesleyan’s own Old Methodist (Old Meth) Rugby Football Club this fall. We practice Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 at Long Lane Field. Email dbrugioni[at]wesleyan[dot]edu for more details or if you don’t know where Long Lane is.

Date: Tuesday, September 9th – Thursday, September 11th
Time: 4:30-6:30 PM
Place: Long Lane Field

Old Methodist Rugby vs. Williams College 50th Anniversary Game

Come out for a Little 3 appetizer as Wesleyan takes on WIlliams College at 10:30 on Long Lane Field. It’s Old Methodist’s 50th anniversary game.

Date: Saturday, October 20th
Time: 10:30 am

Play for Old Meth

Contrary to popular belief, Old Meth does not refer to Wesleyan’s vibrant drug culture, but rather to its vibrant rugby culture! From J.R. Mannetta ’13:

If you like running, dodging, hitting, scrumming, singing, and fighting, you might be interested in joining Old Methodist Rugby—the men’s club team.

No prior rugby experience is necessary. Come out to the info session Wednesday, September 5th, at 6:45 PM, Usdan room 110. If you can’t make it to the info session email dpackard(at)wesleyan.edu for more information.

In all seriousness, it’s time to get hooked on Old Meth (ok, I’ll stop now).

Date: Wednesday, September 5
Time: 6:45 pm
Place: Usdan 110

Play for Old Meth!

Though the title may be misleading, Daniel Packard ’13 really just wants all of you strapping young athletes out there to think about the following:

If you like running, dodging, hitting, scrumming, singing, and fighting, you might be interested in joining Old Methodist Rugby — the men’s club team.

No prior rugby experience is necessary.  Come out to the info session Monday, September 12th, at 8:30 PM, Usdan room 110. If you can’t make it to the info session email dpackard@wes for more information.

And if all that doesn’t entice you to join, then maybe the thought of getting your crotch grabbed like Noah Schlesinger ’13 here might do the trick…
