The folks over at WesPregame just produced a video of some of the students from the Wesleyan Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) doing the Harlem Shake with fifth graders from Macdonough Elementary School. This video has remarkable potential to either cheer you up immensely as you’re studying in SciLi or help you celebrate the end of the midterms. Hope you enjoy either way.
Alex Sarkowsky ’14 writes in with a way for you to help spread holiday cheer in our community and benefit the children at the MacDonough School in a drive sponsored by the Wesleyan Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC). And while you’re at it, you should also lend your support to our student athletes this Saturday, December 8th.
Date: Saturday, December 8th
Time: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Place: Freeman Athletic Center
If you’re a Wesleyan student unfamiliar with student athletics on campus, then I can safely say that you’re missing out. Luckily, if you’re not someone who’s big into sports, there are other outlets to support your fellow students in their athletic and service endeavors. The Wesleyan Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a group of student-athlete representatives who work with the administration to improve and support Wesleyan’s athletic community. SAAC’s goals are to generate a student-athlete voice in dialogue with the faculty, the student body and the NESCAC league. On a national level, SAAC responds to NCAA legislate, as well as, encouraging student-athlete community service efforts.
This month, under the leadership of SAAC Co-President Kaylin Berger ’13, they’re engaged in a fundraising effort to give thanks for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but they need your help. The Men’s Ice Hockey team is also beginning their own fundraising effort this month for research to help find treatment options and a potential cure for Prostate Cancer as part of Movember. They’ll be selling tanks soon, but you can help right away by checking out their fundraising page here.

Yo, so in case you hadn’t heard, Wesleyan Athletes are tearing it up this Fall. It’s not a big deal. Okay, maybe it is a big deal. Or maybe I just need to chill out on stalking the Wesleyan Athletics homepage. Awkward.. Either way, y’all should duck out of Olin or rise from the death of your hangover this Saturday to go support the various teams around campus who will be playing home games, including Field Hockey, Men and Women’s Soccer, Men and Women’s Cross Country, and, last but certainly not least, Football. And be sure to congratulate (read: embarrass) the following superstars when you see them around campus for really staying on top of their game this season: Laura Kurash ’13, Adam Purdy ’13, Grace Smith ’14, Lauren Jacobs ’15, and Tori Redding ’13.
Not to mention that Kaylin Berger ’13 would also like to help you stay updated on all athletic contests and information and awards on the Wesleyan Athletics – SAAC facebook page. So, SAAC up and join it now. Your support and participation would really mean a lot to your fellow students. WesTech, it’s where it’s at.
P.s. SAAC stands for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
