Holi is a South Asian festival celebrating spring and renewal. To celebrate the vibrance and excitement of the new season, people throw colored powder (gulal) at each other.

Make sure you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting stained!

*****VENMO AND CASH ACCEPTED*****

Shakti members will be selling Holi shirts for $7 in Usdan at LUNCH AND DINNER on May 1st (Monday) through May 5th (Friday). IF YOU HAVE A SHIRT YOU GET TWO BAGS OF FREE POWDER!!!!!!!

The event is free and unticketed, but you’ll need colored powder to participate! You can buy powder on Foss the day of for $1 a bag.

On Friday the 10th from 1 to 4, we will be selling glow sticks in Usdan. Proceeds will benefit Let’s Be Clear, an organization promoting consent education. Four glowsticks for $4.

REMINDER: Perpetrators are not welcome at this event. If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable at any point during the party, please contact the hosts.

Come help kick off Asian American Month this April at Convocation! Join Shakti and the Asian American Student Collective for dinner and discussion, featuring student speakers and guest speaker Jason Oliver Chang, Ph.D. Please arrive early, as doors will be closed once DFC capacity is reached!

Jason Oliver Chang is an Assistant Professor of History and Asian American Studies at University of Connecticut. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California at Berkeley and holds a Masters of Public Policy and Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he focused on the enforcement of immigration law at the U.S.-Mexico border.
