Wesleyan Spirits feat. Smithereens tomorrow, Olin, 8pm, yeehaw!

Pescadero extraordinario AJ “Big Bird” Hinds ’12 me envía una tarjeta postal. Se dice,

Dearest Nicholas,

The Spirits will be singing with the Smith College Smithereens at 8pm this Friday in the Olin Lobby. I was hoping that you would be able to make a Wesleying post about it. Would you be so kind? Here’s more info:

“Join the Wesleyan Spirits–Wesleyan’s oldest all-male a Cappella group–for an evening of vocal merriment with the much older, much more all-female Smith College Smithereens! It shall be a night of broken hearts, tender melodies, sweet, sweet chords, and reminding Garth “Celine Dion” Taylor ’86  that, yes, there ARE human beings who can sing higher than him.
Get your beautiful selves to the Olin Lobby at 8pm.

Love,
The Spirits”

Hugs and Kisses,
AJ

Mixolydians Concert @ 3pm!

What are you doing today at 3pm? I know what you should be doing: taking a study break and watching the Mixolydians sing some tunes. From the Facebook event:

Were Raekwon/Ghostface, Wavves, and the Walkmen just not enough of an eclectic mix for you? Did you sigh with ennui when you realized they all performed the exact same way? In English? While being male-gendered?

Cast your vote for change! Protest the reinforced monotony of our music scene! Come see Wesleyan’s oldest and most decorated choral, co-ed, named-after-an-obscure-musical-mode, student-run a cappella group perform! There will be something for everyone: Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff, gospel, and Ke$ha*.

Where: Da Chapel

When: 3 pm, TODAY

*not Ke$ha
