Wesleyan Korean Drumming and Taiko Ensembles

Wesleyan’s Taiko Drumming Ensemble, directed by Visiting Instructor in Music Barbara Merjan, performs the thunderous and thrilling rhythms of Japanese kumi daiko drumming. The Korean Drumming Ensemble, directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Jin Hi Kim, plays a variety of mesmerizing rhythmic patterns from the samulnori repertoire. Several dynamic and exciting styles will be showcased, demonstrating both traditional and contemporary sounds from each culture.

.The 2012 Eastern Taiko Conference Committee invites you to the 2012 Eastern Taiko Conference Concert on Saturday, March 31 from 9:00PM at Crowell Concert Hall. This is a concert featuring internationally known professional taiko players and groups On Ensemble, TAIKOPROJECTKenny Endo and Kaoru Watanabe.

This is a great opportunity to watch many professional taiko players play at one time, right at Wesleyan!  Tickets are sold at the Box Office at $6 for Wesleyan students, and $15 for regular admission.

Bake Sale TONIGHT outside of SciLi  9pm – 1am! Kaze Wesleyan Taiko is raising money to bring taiko artists from all over the country to Wesleyan for the East Coast Taiko Conference, hosted this year by Wes. Come on by for some delicious baked goods and onigiri (Japanese rice balls)!
