Ariel Jacobson ’15 is eyeing you for Eye to Eye and, eye, there will be pizza. Eye would go if eye were you.
Do you have ADHD or a Learning Disability (Dyslexia, processing disorders, etc)? Then join Eye to Eye! Our training is this Wednesday, October 17th at 3:00 in 41 Wyllys Room 113. There will be so much pizza you won’t believe your eyes (to eyes). COME COME COME!
Eye to Eye is the only national mentoring movement that pairs kids with ADHD and learning disabilities like dyslexia with college students who have been similarly labeled. Using an arts-based curriculum, Eye to Eye mentors help their mentees understand what it means to be a different thinker: to value their own unique minds by building their self- esteem and giving them the skills to become self-advocates.
Date: Wednesday, October 17
Time: 3:00 pm
Place: 41 Wyllys, Room 113
Wesleyan Clinic Escorts is a group that trains and organizes Wesleyan students to escort patients into a heavily-protested women’s clinic in Bridgeport, CT. Clinic Escorts seeks to provide a respectful and supportive space for women making reproductive health decisions. Clinic Escorting is less a political statement than a functional means of supporting a woman’s right to self-determination and autonomy.
We are excited to start escorting at the Summit Women’s Center again this semester. Please come to a mandatory info session/training if you want to participate in clinic escorts this semester or you want to learn more. Anyone can participate! Whether or not you have been an escort before, you must attend one meeting to sign up to participate. There are three trainings that should only take about a half hour each.
Monday, 9/20 at 12:30 pm in Usdan 110
Wednesday, 9/22 at 8 pm in Usdan 110
Thursday, 9/23 at 7:30 in Usdan 110
Interested in being a captain? You can sign up to be a captain at the meeting if you have escorted for at least one semester (and preferably have access to a car). We need at least one captain to go to Bridgeport each time we escort.
Questions? E-mail Darien Combs ’11 at dcombs@wes, Sophie Sadinsky ’11 at ssadinsky@wes or Hillary Biggs ’12 at hbiggs@wes.
We’re looking forward to a great semester!
