I know that word has spread around well enough, but to bring it all home, Wesleyan Football will be playing in the first ever NESCAC nighttime game this Saturday! According to Joe, this is a big deal. Come to Corwin Stadium (on Andrus Field) at 6 PM, and support your Cards as they take on the Jumbos. Face paint is encouraged.
Before heading over to the football game, watch the Field Hockey team, led by their captains Amber Bruckner ’14, Blair Ingraham ’14, and Taylor Wells ’14, battle the Bates ‘Cats at noon on Smith Field. Let the excitement build even more at 1:30 PM on Jackson Field when the Men’s Soccer team also takes on Bates.
This will be a great day for our community. When else would we expect 10,000 people to be on campus in one day? So please come out to cheer on our teams, tailgate, and engage in joyful revelry.
To the Class of 2017:
Despite the fact that many of you were AP superstars, SAT mavens and in the top 10% of your high school classes, I have words of inspiration for you. I have noticed that new college students question whether they are capable of handling the work at Wesleyan and contributing to a community that is abound with people who were “the man” in their respective high schools. There are people who believe that such doubts are well founded and that Wesleyan will kick your ass.
Some of you frosh may not know that WesTech competes in the prestigious NESCAC—the most competitive D3 conference in the country. Do not worry; you will not have to enter a lottery system to obtain tickets to see a home football game. We are not like these fans, and we never will be. That’s okay. Do not believe the naysayers who claim that Wesleyan students do not support or appreciate athletics. If you are attempting to relive your high school glory days, looking to get or stay fit, or trying out a new sport, Wesleyan has what you are looking for.
