An evening of live klezmer music by Wesleyan’s klezmer band Veeblefetzer and Yiddish dancing led by Steve Weintraub. Co-sponsored by the Music Department and the Jewish and Israel Studies Program.

klezmerLike to fuse musical styles? Enjoy improvising with laid-back musicians? Can’t tell a khosidl from a kolomeike?Audition for Wesleyan’s one and only KLEZMER band, Veeblefetzer!

All instruments are welcome. Come with a brief musical selection (~30 seconds).

Join Veeblefetzer/The Wesleyan Klezmer Band for an afternoon of toe-tappin’ tunes and endless dancing!

1:30 – 2:15 DANCE WORKSHOP
Come dance your tukhes off before all the mishegas even begins in a dance workshop with world famous Yiddish dance leader Steve Weintraub!

2:30 – 3:30 KLEZMER CONCERT
We’ll play a lively 45 minute dance set, with dancing led by Steve (all levels welcome!) And if that’s not enough musical madness for you, there’s more! You’ll learn to sing a well known Chanukah song… in Yiddish. You’ll witness two violins played simultaneously. There will also be a special appearance by the Mixolydians singing an old Yiddish theater song. Refreshments provided.

Music, Dancing, and Food for Simchat Torah

Join the Jewish community for a night of music from Wesleyan’s klezmer band Veeblefetzer, dancing led by world-renowned Yiddish dance master Steve Weintraub (WHAT A MENSCH!), and free food (IT’S FREE!) Shabbat services will begin at 5:30, the festivities will start immediately afterwards at approximately 6:15, and a home-cooked Shabbat dinner will follow as usual.
