Ladies Love Ultimate Frisbee

Brittany Manobianco ’13 and recently-turned-21 Ivy Johnson ’13 write in to let you know about the first informal practice for Vicious Circles, Wesleyan’s only ultimate frisbee team that sports an all-female roster. If you’re interested in playing club frisbee, then come on out to Foss Hill on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 with tennis shoes or cleats and some other athletic garb. No previous experience is required, and all grade levels are welcome though I’ve heard they have a special bias towards winning over the Class of 2016. So, come on out, and you can make awesome pyramids like this one.

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 5th (TOMORROW!)
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Place: Foss Hill

Cards Win All Home Games

So while many at Wes (myself included) are not avid followers of Wesleyan sports, congrats to all the Wesleyan teams today who trounced Bates.  Field hockey won 3-1, football 28-20, women’s soccer 2-1, and men’s soccer 2-0 – continuing their undefeated season which has placed them as New England’s top team (their second best run so far in Wesleyan history).  Go Wes!

Vicious Circles, the women’s ultimate team, also won the Smith tournament this weekend, beating Smith, RPI, Mt. Holyoke,  Fordham and Smith Alumni. Go Wes again!

Vicious Circles Sweep Ultimate Frisbee Sectionals

vicious-circles-sectionalsNot to be outdone by male counterparts Nietzsch Factor this past weekend, the women’s ultimate frisbee club team Vicious Circles also swept sectionals in Kingston, Rhode Island, for the third year in a row.

The team competed in a tournament of 9 teams from the area, including those from Brown, Yale, and the University of Rhode Island. Led by team captains Laura Masulis ’09 and Sara Hirsch ’09, Vicious Circles won all four games and did not allow any team to score more than 3 points on Saturday.

Vicious Circles went up against Brown’s Disco Inferno in a heated championship battle for the title on Sunday, and even with heavy costal winds, Vicous Circles won 10 to 6. The team will advance to New England Regionals at Dartmouth along with Nietzch Factor on May 2nd, where the competition will be better and the stakes will be higher.

Also, Vicious will be selling discs soon – look out.img_3632
