WesVotes: New Student-Run Voter Registration Group

WesVotes, Wesleyan’s newest student-run voter registration group, is looking to have 100% voter turnout from Wesleyan students. Liza Conrad ’11 writes in:

WesVotes is a new, student-run organization that centralizes voter
registration and absentee ballot request on campus. Each hall will have a
Hall Captain who is charged with speaking with neighbors and getting them
registration forms, absentee ballot request forms, etc- which will be
available in the WSA offices.

Training dates for hall captains will be announced next week.

Voter Registration/Absentee Ballot Help Tonight

There will be a voter registration drive in Usdan tonight hosted by Democracy Matters. Stop by during dinner if you still need to register to vote in Connecticut or if you need assistance getting an absentee ballot. It is strongly recommended that you take advantage of this opportunity to be guided through this complicated process, which differs from state to state.

Democracy Matters will even turn your voter registration form to the Middletown Registrar of Voters – all you need to do is fill it out, and remember to bring the last 4 digits of your SSN.

If you are interested in electoral reform, whether it’s same-day voter registration, campaign finance, absentee or primary reform, feel free to stop by Usdan 136 at 8pm tonight for the weekly meeting of Democracy Matters. Questions can be emailed to scarlin@wes.

Democracy Matters has a table up in Usdan from 6-8 tonight for voter registration.

The Connecticut presidential primary is a closed primary, which means that only those registered as Democrats or Republicans will be able to vote in the respective primaries come February 5th. While it is too late to change your party affiliation, if you’re not affiliated with a party or are a new voter you have until February 4th at noon to register.

Make sure you’re part of the action, and register as soon as possible. The table in Usdan is as easy as it gets.
