The packing list: possibly the most exciting part of the entire pre-frosh experience. There’s nothing quite like that first pilgrimage to Bed Bath and Beyond, walking through the forest of twin XL sheets and Premium, Ultra High Thread Count, Norwegian-Silk-Worm-Excrement-Infused ® towels. Every which way you look there’s something else that you couldn’t possibly live without in the perfect dorm room you’ve conjured up in your head.
Natasha Nurjadin ’18 writes in about one of MY FAVE EVENTS:
As you get ready for school and think about what you want to buy/bring from home, think about buying from Waste Not instead. Waste Not is Wesleyan’s annual tag sale, where we sell gently used items donated to us by the Wesleyan community. Proceeds from the sale go to charity and financial aid so you’d help in giving back to the Wesleyan community.
The sale will be happening on Saturday, September 3 from 11AM to 2PM, and Sunday, September 4 from 1PM to 4PM. There will be two locations: 58 Fountain Ave (couches, chairs, furniture) [ONLY on Saturday] and 44 Brainerd Ave (mini-fridges, microwaves, lamps, printers, mirrors, bathroom & kitchen items, and more!).
You can email us at wesustainability[at]gmail[dot]com if you have any questions. See you soon!
Date: Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4
Time: 11AM-2PM (Saturday) and 1PM-4PM (Sunday)
Place: 58 Fountain (Couches, chairs, furniture) and 44 Brainerd (Other stuff)
Michael Ortiz ’17 invites you to get free stuff from Waste Not:
Many great items were not sold at the Waste Not Tag sale over Labor Day weekend, and we want to give the Wesleyan community a chance to get great used items for office or home.
From Exley’s back entrance, turn right on Lawn and left on Brainerd; 44 is on your left. The end time is TBD, so come early for the best merchandise! If you have questions, email jkleindienst[at]wesleyan[dot]edu.
Date: Friday, September 25th
Place: Behind 44 Brainerd Avenue
Cost: Everything is FREE!

Already too excited about senior week to start studying for midterms? Do you consider yourself a connoisseur of garage sales, tag sales and all things secondhand? What if we told you about a way to combine your passions? Look no further than Waste Not!
Waste Not is Wesleyan’s student-organized answer to the spring semester student evacuation. It is run and maintained entirely through the commitment of the Wesleyan community, and truly exemplifies the incredible power of reuse. Volunteers will help facilitate donation collection in preparation for the Fall Tag Sale. Volunteers will be required to stay until Wednesday May 27, or risk losing free housing.
Apply here! Applications will be accepted until April 12th.
Application Deadline: Sunday, April 12

That’s right. Wesleyan’s annual tag sale just became BIANNUAL. After a great turn out (and due to popular request), Waste Not is coming back for an encore. There are so many leftover donations that we have decided to bring back Waste Not! one more time before the rest of the donations go to Good Will. Our Mission: stock every last dorm, apartment, and house with everything it could possibly desire.
A tag sale of the tag sale: the sale will be on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th at the Brainerd lot. For $1, fill a box or bag of kitchenware, plates, school supplies, shoes, and MORE. All household appliances will be $5. SOOOOOUPER CHEAP.
So come by 44 Brainerd on Saturday, September 13th from 1-3PM to load up on cheap house furnishings!
Date: Saturday, September 13th
Time: 1 – 3 PM
Place: 44 Brainerd

Worried that your Grateful Dead poster will be lonely on your dorm room walls? Wanting a love seat for some luvin’? Needing a place to heat up your cup-o-noodle? Then come to Waste Not!, Wesleyan’s annual tag sale, where all of these items and more will be available for purchase.
In the Spring, students donate items as they move out of housing. These items are then stored over the summer and available for purchase by students in the Fall. Proceeds go towards sustaining the program, and the rest goes to charity.
We have refrigerators, microwaves, chairs, couches, lamps, mirrors, and a million odds and ends. Bigger items such as furniture will be at the Fountain location, and miscellaneous items will be at the Brainerd garage. The sale will be on August 30th and 31st. There will be signs around campus to direct you to the TWO locations.

If you’re moving out in the next few days and have a bunch of stuff you don’t need or want anymore, donate them to Waste Not! or to Goodwill so they’re not wasted. There’s a group of Waste Not! student volunteers sticking around this week just to collect your cool armchairs, lamps, printers, TVs, didgeridoo, etc.
The official Waste Not! collection will be on Monday, May 26 (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), but until then you can put your clothing and linens into Goodwill bins around campus. The locations of these bins are marked in green in the map above.
