WeSlam Presents: The First Preliminary Slam of the Semester

Zachary Sporn ’15 claims to have heard every pun ever made about his last name, so don’t even try:

10 poets. 2 rounds. Who will take the first four spots to compete in the Wesleyan Final Slam? Come watch these poets battle with beautiful words this Saturday in the World Music Hall in the CFA @7:30. Anyone is welcome to slam, regardless of experience (click the link for details if you plan on performing). You’re not going to want to miss this. And we don’t want you to either.

But wait, there’s more! We will also be hearing poems from the incredibly talented Michael Lee. Michael is a Minneapolis poet,
performer, fiction writer, and youth worker who is currently the ninth ranked slam poet in the world. He was named the 2011 “Best Individual Poet” of Collegiate Nationals (CUPSI). Michael was both the 2011 Minneapolis (Poetry) Grand Slam Champion and the Great Plains Pile Up Champion. He performs and conducts poetry workshops at rehabs, homeless shelters, religious/spiritual institutions, youth programs, colleges and high schools in Minnesota and around the country.
