Old, Poor, and Hungry in America: A Film Screening of Caring for Mom and Dad

WesAGE and Hunger and Homelessness are teaming up to put on a film screening of “Caring for Mom and Dad,” a moving documentary to spark a discussion surrounding economic, financial, and social issues inherent in caring for the elderly. There will be Thai food for dinner, so please feel free to stop by for dinner, a film screening, and discussion on Wednesday, February 17th at 6PM in PAC 002. We hope to see you there!

WesAGE (Wesleyan Alliance for Generational Exchange) aims tofacilitate mutually beneficial relationships between Wesleyan studentsand the elderly members of the Middletown community through a networkof outreach programs. Members have the opportunity to engage in weeklygroup social hours (which often involve playing Scrabble and Bingo orsocializing with wiser souls) at One MacDonough Senior Center on MainStreet or individual visits with their own elderly companion.If you are interested in learning more, please join us for an interest meeting this Monday. WesAGE (the elderly social group) has been selected as a FINALIST for November 2014 Students with Drive program that awards ZipCar credit to college community service groups.

We are competing against three other groups for the chance to win $5000 in Zip Car credit to help transport our volunteers to elderly living facilities.

Voting for the finalists starts TODAY and ends November 11th at midnight. Please vote on the Students with Drive Facebook page.

Help support our Wesleyan students groups by voting– each Facebook user is allotted one vote for the competition! PLEASE tell your friends and family both at Wesleyan and at home! Tell your professors and coworkers!

Come play board games, dominoes, chat, and participate in activities with the elderly residents. Social hour is a great opportunity to come meet seniors in a casual setting. If you would like to attend, please meet outside of Allbritton at 2:45pm to walk down with the WesAGE group.

WesAGE (Wesleyan Alliance for Generational Exchange) is pairing with the Wesleyan Breakdance Club for a breakdance demonstration at One MacDonough Place, an assisted living facility in Middletown. Come down to mingle, appreciate, and participate! No dance skills necessary.
The event is from 2-3pm,  so meet outside of Allbritton at 1:50pm to walk down with the group.
