WesBAM! is a student-run organization that makes mind-body awareness and fitness accessible at Wesleyan through offering classes in a wide variety of practices – yoga, kickboxing, spin, Zumba, and more. We believe these practices should be accessible to everyBODY and are committed to helping students incorporate them into the college lifestyle. While strengthening our bodies as we nurture our minds, we aim to create a community of fun and respect for both our bodies and each other.

Interested in becoming a WesBAM! instructor? Or more broadly, thinking of pursuing a career in fitness/wellness/yoga instruction but not sure how to go about it? Join us for a panel in which we will answer all of your questions and share our experiences.
There will be refreshments!
We will close the panel with the presentation of our Yoga Playtime Book, and we invite you all to stay and play around a bit.

The 5Rhythms® is a dynamic movement-based practice developed by Gabrielle Roth. Dance, spontaneous and original within every body, is the medium and the medicine in the 5Rhythms® practice. There are no right or wrong moves, no choreography or steps. Curiosity, willingness to move, water bottle, bare feet or light dance shoes are all that is required. The rest is up to the dance. The 5Rhythms® practice is designed for everybody, regardless of age, shape or experience. Dress to sweat!
Daniela Peltekova is a certified 5Rhythms® teacher based in New York City. With warmth, poetic artistry and compassion, Daniela facilitates powerful space for movement and transformation. She comes originally from Bulgaria where the land holds ancient traditions of deep wisdom and spirituality.

Stretch, move, groove, breathe, laugh, and detox this Saturday (3/1) in Fayerweather Dance Room from 5-6 with yoginis Anya Morgan ’14, Jonathan Sung ’14 and Isabel Fine ’17.

This 2-hour-long workshop will equip you with the skills, inspiration, and knowledge to lead your own yoga classes for your own beautiful selves and bodies. DIY Yoga will empower you to create your own home practice for those days when WesBAM! classes don’t fit into your schedule or for when you want to freestyle it on your mat, but safely and effectively.
Together, we will move, breathe, and discuss the best and most effective ways for starting your own practice and moving like yourself.
This workshop costs $10 and is payable by student account. Email Shira at sengel01[at]wesleyan[dot]edu with your name, WesID, and any questions/requests to reserve a spot and receive your included copy of Yoga U: The College Student’s Tools for Balanced Living, an 100-plus page e-book on personalizing the yoga practice at no extra charge!

Have you been wanting to try one of our group exercise classes, but feared you might be one of the few male-identifying people in the room? Break away the stigma and get a taste of some of what we have to offer at this FREE event.
The WesBAM! Team strives to provide services to the entire Wesleyan community, but demographically, those who identify as male are underrepresented in our classes. This workshop will move through three of our fitness modalities – TurboKick, CardioKickboxing, and Yoga – tailoring to your bodies and ensuring a comfortable environment in which we’ll be open to your feedback as we strive to make WesBAM! more accessible. Try it out and bring your friends! You’ve got nothing to lose.
