Hello, campus. Wesleying is NOT BuzzFeed, just to let you know. But we do like to do a wrap-up of the calendar year because (1) institutional memory is shit at colleges, (2) synergy, and (3) lists are cool. Btw this post was compiled with the help of the legendary hermes, who is very 2015 and very Internet. Ty.
In this catalog of sorts, we have compiled a summary of the top [arbitrary number] major happenings on this small campus in central Connecticut during the past calendar year. Oh and read these past Years In Review because HISTORY: 2012, 2013, and 2014.
Now a disclaimer: These issues are not ranked with any criteria in mind, they are simply numbered for the sake of numbering. Also, we know that there are many things that occurred on this campus that we may not have gotten to, but we are all of limited perspective and limited time, so if you feel as though we missed something, please leave a comment so that we’re all as informed as possible. Many of these happenings and issues develop through time and are certainly not over because they were listed in a year-in-review post on some random ass website (lol self-deprecation!!). So, if there are any recent developments in anything we did include, leave a comment or email us at staff[at]wesleying[dot]org. I don’t have any more adieus.
Guys, here’s the deal. We’re all feeling really old again because 2014 is over now, and that’s what happens each time you celebrate another year having come and gone. But before we can settle into 2015, which a previous year tried to warn us about (????), it’s time for your annual Wesleying Year in Review. Frosh writers astag_rocky, Caro, and Jackson put together the ten biggest moments on campus (#tbt style), links to relevant Wesleying posts that help you brush up on each of those topics, and lots of fun honorable mentions.
Some really weird, interesting, amazing, magical stuff happens at Wes, and this post serves to remind us to take those memories with us as we go forward. (Looking at you, “New Year, New Me” people.)
Now, a disclaimer: Not everything that happened this year is covered because even with help, frosh only get some of the things right some of the times. Feel free to leave your personal favorite/weirdest/coolest Wesleyan moments in the comment section. Also, note that the events that do get covered are not placed in any particular order of importance or severity.
Read after the jump to see who wore it best.
Another beautiful kitten-filled photo brought to you by the fabulous waynesworld.
As the year draws to a close and we put away our “Congrats on surviving the Rapture… Again!” cards (until 2015, that is), it’s time to look back on life at Wes during the past twelve months.
In this nifty Year in Review, you will find an assortment of Wesleyan’s biggest debacles, triumphs, incidents, and protests from the year 2012 as told by the wonderful bloggers of Wesleying.
If anything, I hope this little post helps you regroup and remember that we go to a damn interesting school. Maybe it makes you appreciate Wesleyan more, maybe it just makes you reflect a little. Or maybe it makes you angry, I don’t know. But no matter what, I wish you all a happy, crazy awesome New Year.
A note before I begin: yes, I missed some things. It is a truly difficult task to fit all the fascinating/weird/emotionally-charged events that happen at Wesleyan and their subsequent Wesleying articles into a single post. Feel free to write about other big moments or your favorite Wesleying posts from 2012 in the comments section.
Second note: all of the Wesleying articles under “For further reading” are in chronological order (for the most part) from oldest to newest.
Last note: these events are in no particular order of importance, seriousness, or enormity.
Read after the jump to see what events made the Top 10 and what happenings are Honorable Mentions. Happy reading, brochachos.
