Bring a Friend to Zumba, Save $$

Feeling a little stir-crazy from lounging around inside for the past two days? Feeling the urge to get your mind off of work and to just have a dance party?

Then come on down TONIGHT to Fayerweather 108 at 6:30 for Zumba, as a part of WesBAM!!

Zumba combines Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system.
Additionally, this week to promote the class a little more, it’s…BRING-A-FRIEND WEEK!!!!!!  If you bring a friend to class today or tomorrow, it’s $3 for each of you (instead of the normal $5 drop-in rate!!!). So spread the word, share the love, join the party!
All levels welcome!

TGIF Yoga Dance Party

Remember TGIF on the WB? This is like that but with yoga. From Shira Engel ’14:

It’s a yoga dance party, speakers blasting Top 40s, and perhaps live music at the end. There will be food and coconut water/kombucha on tap. This late-night festival is  an opportunity for the Wesleyan community to engage with what WesBAM! has to offer in a free, completely informal, fun, and dancing context. Photo courtesy of this awesome NY Times article on yoga dance parties (it’s a thing, people!).

Introducing WesBAM! (Fitness Instructors Needed)

Yogi extraordinaire Shira Engel ’14 writes in to announce that Wexercise is back this fall as WesBAM! (Wesleyan Body and Mind!). The new group aims to be more accessible, include more students, and cut the prices of classes in half:
WesBAM! is a student-run organization that makes mind-body awareness and fitness accessible at Wesleyan through offering classes in a wide variety of practices – yoga, kickboxing, spin, Zumba, and more. We believe these practices should be accessible to everyBODY and are committed to helping students incorporate them into the college lifestyle. While strengthening our bodies as we nurture our minds, we aim to create a community of fun and respect for both our bodies and each other.
If you’re interested in becoming a fitness instructor for WesBAM!, and totally dig its mission statement, then apply here. The application deadline is on August 13. For more up to date information, check out the WesBAM! website.

FREE Zumba Fitness® Class — 4 p.m. today!

Zumba Fitness® is a Latin-inspired dance fitness program that includes 27 national and international rhythms. The music includes everything from Reggaeton to Salsa to the Top 20 hits you secretly dance to in your car.

Now is the time to stop hiding your dancing. The creator of Zumba®, Beto Perez, once said, “I don’t want people to feel the burn, I want people the feel the music”. Zumba® is a workout disguised as a dance party. It’s about having a good time while simultaneously burning calories (anywhere between 500-900 an hour!) and strengthening muscles.

My class accommodates all fitness levels and all dancing abilities. This is YOUR workout (or party if you choose to call it that).  *This is a weekly Wexercise class*

(There will be a lot of people, so you might want to come a few minutes early to fill out forms).

You’ve got nothing to lose, so come shake it with us!

Wexercise Fitness Classes Start This Week!

Hey Wesleyan community! Tryna get fit? Tryna have fun? Come to Wexercise classes, kicking off tomorrow on Sunday, September 18th and happening every day of the week! All classes are $10 for one drop-in, $50 for six classes, and $90 for eleven classes (except breakdancing, which is $5 for drop-ins, $25 for six classes, and $45 for eleven classes). The Wesleyan fitness classes program formerly affiliated with WesWELL are getting a facelift this semester, and Sylvie Stein ’12 has details. Most pertinently, the new fitness collective—enter: “Wexercise”—is seeking qualified instructors for its fall classes:

Remember the WesWELL non-credit classes that brought you zumba, yoga, and cardio kickboxing? Well, the classes are no longer affiliated with WesWELL, and the fitness collective is now known as WEXERCISE! The spankin’ new blog is available here.
