YallaWes Presents Peace Activist Gershon Baskin

Dr. Gershon Baskin, a veteran Israeli peace activist, will be coming to campus to speak about his role in the secret talks between Israel and Hamas for the release of abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in exchange for over 1,000 Palestinians. For over five years, several attempts were made to reach a deal that would release Gilad Shalit. In May 2011, a breakthrough was finally made as a result of the hard work of Dr. Baskin who opened a channel of communication between Hamas and the Israeli Mossad.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the story from Dr. Baskin himself!

YallaWes Presents Peace Activist Gershon Baskin

Gershon Baskin, initiator of the secret talks between Israel and Hamas for the release of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, is speaking at Wesleyan next week!

A long line of diplomats and intelligence officers from Egypt, Germany, France, Turkey, and other countries tried for more than five years to reach a deal between Israel and Hamas that would free the abducted Israeli solider Gilad Shalit. The breakthrough came only in May 2011 as a result of the work of Dr. Gershon Baskin, a veteran Israeli peace activist who opened a channel of communication between Hamas and the Israeli Mossad that led to Shalit’s release in October in exchange for more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the story from Dr. Baskin himself!

YallaWes thanks the Wesleyan Jewish Community, The Wesleyan Government Department, and J Street U for making this exciting event possible.
